After a particularly grueling week at work, and a Saturday spent slicing and chopping and cleaning and prepping for a dinner party at my house (plus a quick bike ride to the PCC for some last-minutes), I desperately needed a rest day on Sunday; I was tired down to my bones.
But I still needed at least one day of skiing this weekend, and lucky for me, today was a holiday. With yesterday's day off, today I was rested and ready to get back on the hills! With rain forecast for Cabin Creek again (plus traffic delays for tree removals along I-90), I decided to head back to the rolling hills of Stevens Pass. It did not disappoint; Stevens got 18 inches of new snow over the weekend, and while I was there, I enjoyed a good old Northwest wintry mix: snowing hard, snaining hard, clearing, snowing again. The grooming was excellent, and I tackled the Sideline hills for a couple of hours. I was a little worried about how hard it felt, but still feel like I'm moving in the right direction, doing the best I can with this life I have.
This winter has been so crazy; I feel like every weekend could be the last one of skiing, so with the forecast for next weekend sending the snow level up to 8,000 feet, fer cryin' out loud, I was more than grateful to be able to seize today.
