Knockin' on Heaven's Door

The snow level hovers a frustrating thousand feet or more above the pass, but a girl's gotta ski.  If the snow won't come to us, we must go to it, and by it I mean upper Amabilis today: 28 degrees, bright blue sky, sparkly sunshine, tons of crisp clean snow, spectacular grooming, lots of happy skiers.  This is as good as it can be ...

But let's talk snow park permits.  I know some of you are saying you're not going to buy one this year, with our desperate lack of snow at the pass level.  But buying a permit now is investing in next year's grooming; this year's is already budgeted.  And the snow park system is a closed system: no property taxes, no sales taxes, no other revenues but permit fees go in, grooming comes out (and porta-potties and  parking lot plowing and some trail maintenance).  The fee is not expensive, especially when you consider what it buys you.  So don't let the dry brown landscape at the pass discourage you; winter will come, and when it does, we'll want the grooming coffers to be ready.
