Holiday Grooming-We Got Snow!

'Tis the season to be thankful, and I am thankful for many things.  In the top five, for sure, is all the snow we have!  Meteorologist Cliff Mass claims the best skiing in the whole country is right here in the Pacific Northwest, where our snowpack is 150% of normal already, and he has the map to prove it:

Here on earth, it looked like this today:

And this:

It was excellent skiing on the Iron Horse today, with a little sprinkly snowfall, temperatures in the low 30s, and an easy drive on a bare and wet freeway.

The Cascade Winter Rec Council reports three feet of new snow at the pass, and sent out this grooming schedule from now through January 2:

Iron Horse: every single day through New Year's, except Christmas day.  Remember the Horse gets groomed multiple times per day, thanks to the sledding hill at the west end of the trail, so even if we get another big snowstorm, the trail should be good.
Cabin Creek: every day this week, except Christmas day.  [correction: Cabin Creek will be groomed every day this week!]  Amabilis will only be groomed on the weekends.  Next week it's back to the regular Wednesday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday schedule.
Also, Stevens Pass nordic is open every day this week and next, including Christmas and New Year's, with an early close (2 pm) on Christmas Eve.

It doesn't get much better than this around here; grab your skis and meet me out there!
