7,000 Feet

That's where the freezing level was today.  That's halfway up Mount Rainier, for crying out loud.  I'm not ready to say goodbye to winter, but spring skiing is easy to love, and today was ... glorious.  The temps were in the mid 40s, bright sunshine in a blue sky with puffy comic-book clouds.  The snow was excellent in the shade, a little sucky in the sun, and nicely groomed.  It's been so long since I've skied in the sunshine, I've forgotten what's hiding behind the clouds!

I skied for a while with Susie and Dale -- it was fun to catch up with their busy lives -- and I spotted this sweet little dog Lily, out for her very first ski in her kick-ass new boots.  What a great day to be skiing!

I put in three hours on the trail today, making it six hours of training for the weekend and eight hours for the week.  Getting back into shape is a long slow process, and a whole lot less fun than already being in shape.  I'm working on rebuilding endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility, one workout at a time, but a day like today -- that's just playing!
